Bobby OBAMA

Doncs sí. En Barack OBAMA ja és oficialment el candidat demòcrata a la presidència dels Estats Units i ja destaca tothom que és el primer afroamericà en aconseguir-ho. Felicitats. I, sincerament, que li vagi bé i aguanti amb força el frec a frec amb McCAIN. Només demano que els CLINTON li siguin, ni que sigui per un parell de mesos, si no lleials, com a mínim, no adversaris.

Ha donat la casualitat que aquest vespre he estat veient la pel·lícula "Bobby". No la vaig veure en el seu moment i he pensat que avui podia ser una bona ocasió. I, efectivament, era el dia adequat. Aquests darrers mesos molts han estat els que han volgut vincular d'alguna manera els discursos i el fenòmen que ha suposat la irrupció de Barack OBAMA amb el que en el seu moment va suposar John KENNEDY. No seré jo qui digui el contrari. Ara, avui, escoltant fragments de discursos de Robert KENNEDY -aquest 6 de juny ha fet quaranta anys del seu assassinat- em sembla que OBAMA sona, és veritat, a KENNEDY, però molt més a Bobby que a JFK.

Adjunto aquests fragments de discurs, perquè em semblen prou gràfics.

“I am announcing today my candidacy for the presidency of the United States. I do not run for the presidency merely to oppose any man, but to propose new policies. I run because I am convinced that this country is on a perilous course, and because I have such strong feelings about what must be done and I feel that I’m obliged to do all that I can. I shall not seek and I will not accept the nomination of my party for another term as your president.” (16 de març de 1968).

“What I think is quite clear, is that we can work together. What’s been going on in the U.S. over the last three years: the divisions, the violence, the disenchantment with our society, the divisions between blacks and whites, the poor and the affluent, or age groups or on the war in Vietnam… We can work together. We are a great, selfless, compassionate country. That will be my basis for running over the next months. So my thanks to all of you and now it’s on to Chicago and let’s win there.” (la nit del 5 de juny de 1968, pocs minuts abans de ser tirotejat).
